My ex-boyfriend never once said "I love you" when we were about to hang up on the phone. Not even as a couple. But now (nearly 2 years later) he's seeing someone else. And yesterday before we hung up, he said "I love you, bye". Not "love ya". But "I love you". What am I to think? Does he really mean it, or is it not a big deal? Is it a "friend" kind of love, or a "I'm in love with you". Because he doesn't say it to anyone but his girlfirend. Not even his mother. I prefer if men to answer this, but women are welcome to give me their opinions.

If he hasn't hinted that he is still interested in you that way, then maybe it was kind of a habit type of thing. I've told my doctor that over the phone on an accident! But if you guys are still really closse, it could be a friendship love.

He could have been confused for a second, mixing up the two of you in conversation. Sometimes it just happens by habit. (You did mention, that he never said it to you on the phone in that way before.)

He probably now knows that he really did care about you and he wants to start again, either that or his other girl was leaving while u guys were hanging up

Your relationship ended 2 years ago, and he has a girlfriend who he does say, "I love you". He isn't one to throw this phrase around easily. I would say he just made an error by saying it with you. If he meant to say it to you, he will continue to repeat it in future conversation.

sadly he's having a lend of you --- if he was for real a couple of years ago --- he should have committed himself to you --- there's something sinister here --- he wants to hunt with the hound and run with fox !!! --- move on lovey --- for your own piece of mind . good luck
