"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

The Bible says that the Followers of Christ were first called Christian at Antioch in the Bible. If so, then I would say that Christians have the Truth. Catholics are not necessarily following GOD's WORD as are the Christians are. Isn't that the TRUTH? I am a Non-Denominational Christian who follows the New Testament Scriptures and believes that GOD has written it for each od us to follow today. IT was written so that we would know what HE wants us to do today. Please read, study, and follow HIS WORD daily. HE expects us to do that. Have a great day today and for the remainder of this week.
Thanks,
Eds

Catholics have the full deposit of truth given to her by Christ, all other Christian sects have partial truths
Through the study of Scripture and the Church Fathers, we see that, not only is the Catholic faith biblical, Catholicism is Bible Christianity par excellence.

Because the Old and New Testament Scriptures are the divinely-revealed, written Word of God, Catholics venerate the Scriptures as they venerate the Lord's body. But Catholics do not believe that God has given us His divine Revelation in Christ exclusively through Scripture. Catholics also believe that God's Revelation comes to us through the Apostolic Tradition and teaching authority of the Church.

What Church? Scripture reveals this Church to be the one Jesus Christ built upon the rock of Saint Peter (Matt. 16:18). By giving Peter the keys of authority (Matt. 16:19), Jesus appointed Peter as the chief steward over His earthly kingdom (cf. Isaiah. 22:19-22). Jesus also charged Peter to be the source of strength for the rest of the apostles (Luke 22:32) and the earthly shepherd of Jesus' flock (John 21:15-17). Jesus further gave Peter, and the apostles and elders in union with him, the power to bind and loose in heaven what they bound and loosed on earth. (Matt. 16:19; 18:18). This teaching authority did not die with Peter and the apostles, but was transferred to future bishops through the laying on of hands (e.g., Acts 1:20; 6:6; 13:3; 8:18; 9:17; 1 Tim. 4:14; 5:22; 2 Tim. 1:6).

Catholics are Christians, but not Protestants. Your question should ask what is the difference between Catholics and Protestants.

not sure its an either or

there is always a temptation to have a 'God substitute' or a 'gospel substitute' Where 'man's works' might substitute for the mercies of God, Or something less than God's mercies, Mary perhaps, might be appealed to

there is always a temptation to fall back on traditions of men and not on the word of God

the problem is it isn't a Catholic only problem, Protestants can read the Bible in an intellectual manner and not be transformed by it.. it is a struggle of human nature and takes the amazing grace of God to let someone know Him and behold the beauty in His word and be changed

Catholics Believe

There can be but one Divinely instituted Church in the world.

Catholics Believe

That Christ established a Church to teach, govern spiritually, sanctify and lead men to salvation.

That the Church of Christ is a spiritual organism rather than a mere organization.

That its organic character is derived from the life principle of its Founder, Jesus Christ, who gave it life and is its life. In this sense, the Church is Christ and Christ is the Church.

Catholics Believe

That the Church is a living body, instituted by Christ, the Holy Spirit indwelling; a visible society of believers, partaking of the same sacraments, governed by lawful pastors under one visible head, Peter and his successors.

Catholics Believe

That four marks distinguish Christ's kingdom of heaven on earth. They are made known in the Creed—"I believe in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church."

One in:

Faith
Belief
Worship
Government

Holy In:

Origin, Christ.
Objective, redemption.
Means, sacraments.
Sanctity of faithful.

Catholic :

Teaches all nations.
During all time.
All Christ taught.
Peoples of all nationalities obedient to one universal authority in faith and morals.

Apostolic :

Founded upon apostles.
Teaches what apostles Apostolic taught.
Continuous existence from time of the apostles.
"The enemies of the Church themselves die and disappear, but the Church itself lives on, and preaches the power of God to ever succeeding generations" (St. Augustine).

Catholicism is a sect of Christianity. You may want to say Catholicism or Protestantism...they're the two main divisions! Anyways, whichever one follows the words of the bible should be the right one.
