I was recently told that I may have Asperger's. Is this poosbile? Because even although I fit all the symptoms, I don't act like I have autism, I know this may be ignorence to the subject but if some could enlighten me I would be grateful.

Look, lot's of great people have Asperger's. Dan Akkroyd, Daryl Hannah, Einstine, Beethoven, my kid........................
I've never been evaluated but I know I fit a lot of the criteria myself.
The point is that you are who you are. So what if you fit the dx for Asperger's? Does that change who you are? Aren't you still the same person? At best/and worst the dx might answer some deep questions for you but it's not like you have terminal cancer or anything. Lot's of people have ADHD, Tourettes etc. Do you think that dx defines them?
I haven't been told that I'm on the spectrum-yet I still revisit interactions with co-workers and realize I may have come across as crass and blunt.........I was just being truthful(lying or even stretching the truth is difficult for me-often I just don't say anything to avoid possible hurt feelings)............but others might not view it that way.
Truth -be -told the more I read on my son's behalf the more I end-up looking in the mirror. It does have a genetic componant after all.
I don't think there are any easy answers. The best advice I can give is to read all you can. Try contacting a group like ASPEN or checking out a website of Aspie's. They are there-I've found them and much support for presenting Asperger's in a positive light to my son. Don't let the word freak you out-it's just a word.
Like with anything else there are a multitude of variances; you may have few notable characteristics. You are you after all and everyone with Asperger's is different-just like 'neuro-typical' people.

Best wishes,
audrey

People with Asperger's syndrome can range from having very few "symptoms" to having many. The circumstances under which you were told this and by whom would be important, but don't let a label change your life.
If you want to you can type Asberger's into you web browser and find an enormous amount of information
