No Nine Lives was not involved!
A pet food company voluntarily recalled toxin-contaminated dog and cat food sold in 23 states, including Alabama.
Diamond Pet Foods issued the recall on cat, dog and puppy food contaminated with aflatoxin, a chemical byproduct of the fungus, Aspergillus flavus, on corn and other crops.
Products included in the recall contain a capital "G" in the 11th or 12th position in the date codes, along with best-buy dates between March 1, 2007, and June 10, 2007.
Symptoms include yellow eyes, which indicate jaundice. Other symptoms include lack of appetite, bloody stool, excessive bleeding and depression. Owners who believe their pets may have the toxin should consult local veterinarians or State Veterinarian Tony Frazier at (334) 240-7253.
Diamond said it made the affected pet food in Gaston, S.C. The company said customers who purchased recalled products should stop feeding the food to pets immediately and return it to retailers for refunds.
Affected brands include Diamond Premium Adult Dog Food, Diamond Hi-Energy Dog Food, Diamond Maintenance Dog Food, Diamond Performance Dog Food, Diamond Puppy Food, Diamond Low Fat Dog Food, Diamond Maintenance Cat Food, Diamond Professional Cat Food, Country Value Puppy, Country Value Adult Dog Food, Country Value High Energy Dog Food, Country Value Adult Cat Food, Professional Chicken & Rice Adult Dog Food, Professional Puppy Food, Professional Large-Breed Puppy Food, Professional Reduced Fat Cat Food and Professional Adult Cat Food.

No, 9Lives is not included in the recall...our cats eat it also and believe me the first thing I did was check the 9lives website and it's safe....Thank God!
My heart just breaks for those people who's cats and dogs have become sick or died as a result of the tainted food.
