Logically. yes. All the living creatures however lower in the ladder have to have souls.......tortured or otherwise.

this is an interesting question. insects, such as ants for example, have such a highly delevoped social structure and higher archy that you have to wonder if they are capable of independant thoughts, or if they just go by instinct, and even if they have a soul.
but, since i don't really believe in "souls" i would say no, but i do tend to believe that they are a conscious being
