emailed old high school friend a year ago and he said how he thought of me all these years, I was the love of his life, and if we had stayed together we would have gotten married. He told me he was going through a divorce and currently living overseas with someone who he is not in love with but they have mutual trust and understand according to him. I told him that I cared for him as well. But since then, he goes back and forth....he still emails me and even reads my emails sometimes 10 times over and over. He throws out clues that he cares for me but then when I say I will be in his area for business and would you like to meet for drinks, he is all panicked and he reads and reads my emails 11 times before saying, I will be traveling not around...etc....what is he scared of?

It might be that he is lying to you, that he really isnt getting a divorce. Maybe he does care for you, but he wont actually go through an affair if he really is married.
