license automatically or just pay a fine and show proof of insurance to the court?

I was cited for no proof of insurance but accident was DEFINITELY not my fault and the police report indicates that. I had heard they changed the law and could take your license but wasn't sure if it was true.

If you aren't at fault, why would there be any court appearance? Did you get a ticket? If so, that would seem to indicate some fault on your part. If you got a ticket for no insurance, and only for that, you would just show the court you now have it, and pay whatever fine they assign. Looks like for a first time offense, you will pay $100. http://www.iii.org/individuals/auto/a/stateautolaws/

Your license can automatically be suspended for driving without proof of insurance. The accident, well it wouldn't have occurred had you not been driving, you were driving illegally, so now you will pay for the suspension, if they take your license. Otherwise, you will get insurance, and provide that proof when you go to court, they may lower the fine if you provide proof right away. I would think you would also be required to not have a lapse in coverage, if so, suspension of license. Good luck.
