I know that if you burn more calories than you consume you lose weight. But if a piece of food weighs 500 grams can you put on more than 500 grams in body weight if it was of a very high calorific value.

Matter can neither be created or destroyed, true as much in the body as in physics.

Logically if you weigh yourself immediately after you have consumed the food, you will gain the weigh of the food, temporarily. Putting on weight has nothing to do with the actual weight of the food you have eaten but how many calories were contained in it & how much you have used up during that day, week, month, etc. 500 grams of fruit & vegetables a day wouldn't add 500 grams on you, but the same weight of fatty food will add more than their actual weight on you over a period of time.

no i don't think you can gain the exact calories some of them might get burned off like if you eat at night some of the calories might be stored but not all of them

thats not possible. if you eat a piece of food most of the energy is lost as heat and a lot you just s.h.i.t out again. a tiny fraction of the small remainder is what is used to build your mass...so no, you cant do it...ever heard of the laws of thermodynamics?
