Hello,i suffer from on/off constipation and have found in the past that things like drinking coffee especially gets things moving, but (dont think im weird) i just like to experiment with diff kinds of foods that gets my bowels to move (induce diarrhea not thru using laxatives). So i was wondering of trying bran flakes/all fibre bran with coffee milk instead of whole milk. Or coffee milk and dates taken together? Coffee milk usually gets me going but i want something that can make me full aswell so that i wont keep picking at food just to get to the loo. Usually drinking it with something makes me full but just want to ask if anyone knows if the above would be effective....or something different? Preferably with coffee milk cos i love it. Cant stand prune juice and it gives me too much gas so dont mention that lol. I feel so clogged up and want to get rid of this feeling but at the same time curious to know what to experiment with! thankyouuuuuuuu, dont think im odd :p

You have to drink alot of water to make your bowels move properly - 6 - 8 glasses of water a day. Without the water there's no "flow" and stuff just gets stuck in there. Also - exercise is vital for healthy bowels. Even a couple of 15 minute walks a day is better than nothing, but a good workout 3 - 5 times a week would be better.

Eat nuts - lots of of vegetables - high fiber cereals - trail mix.
Bran is a good fiber but you really need to drink alot of water with it to make it effective because it is a harsh fiber.

You could also go on a cleanse just to get your bowels cleaned out. Will work wonders and will probably get your bowels into a routine of going every day so when the cleanse is done & your diet is changed to promote healthy bowels then you'll be regular. I recommend a 30 day cleanse - don't go on one of those weekend things - they are too hard on you & you can't leave the house because you'll be on the toilet.

Good luck.....

By the way - coffee is my trigger in the morning as well but I think it's just the hot drink. My Mom drinks hot water with a half tsp. of honey and it works a charm for her.

Bran muffins or Raisin Bran each morning would definitely get things moving! Any bran actually would work.

Also, flax seed...it works along the same lines as bran, but its not as filling.

Figuring out what makes your body work isn't "weird". Its actually quite smart. To learn what does and doesn't work for you is how you learn. Smart move as far as I'm concerned.

When I was in the hospital after the birth of my son, my insides took their time becoming regular again. One of the nurses mixed something that SOUNDS vile, but it worked. It's prune juice and ginger ale, stirred together, and then warmed. It doesn't taste bad at all (despite what it looks like), and it worked nicely for me.

You could also try Mini Wheats cereal and going for a walk. I have had issues with constipation from taking narcotic pain medications for back pain. This usually helps me. Good luck.

Drink lots of water throughout the day, and walk on the treadmill or sidewalk for 30 minutes a day.

A bowl of bran cereal (or high fiber cereal) every day. Try different cereals also. Works for me.
