Are you talking about nits? All you need it tea tree oil, and a fine tooth comb. Apply oil, and comb comb comb. Reapply after a week to get any left behind. Best of all, NO CHEMICALS, so no harm to you, your child, or your unborn child!

The combs were never free on the NHS you were probably given a prescription for a chemical nit treatment and the comb was free in the box! It depends which treatment you were given some come with combs others don't. you can pick a nit comb up from as little as 99p for a plastic one or £2.99 for a metal nit comb.

You can treat nits without chemicals. Its a lot cheaper and safer (especially as you are pregnant) Just wash the child's hair with regular shampoo then put on lots of conditioner (some will say tea tree conditioner but any will do) With the conditioner in the hair, comb it through. You will remove any lice and their eggs. You will have to repeat this treatment every other day for at least 2 weeks. That way you will remove any baby lice as they are hatching if you missed any eggs the previous time. If your child has any big adult lice they have picked them up from someone else such as play mates at school. It is impossible for a baby louse to develop into an adult in the space of a couple of days. Its a matter of staying on top of it and breaking the cycle of egg, baby louse and adult louse. Perseverance is the key!

I was able to get the shampoo from the nhs ,if you had it free last year and you knew what it was why didn't you just buy some combs and a black bag. (i always do something like that and go Doh so not having go at u)
check next time you are in if the shampoo is still available free.
those bloomin nits are a pain and it took alot of conditioning my daughters hair and brushing for ages every other day i also got her hair lengh reduced a good bit ,wash all your kids pillows and cases in a hot wash and if the hair is long when going out to play with others tie it up and when going to school.

Well i never got them free. Best thing for nits is a nitty gritty comb, there 10 pounds and really good.

We have the nhs for free, we are lucky try living in america where you need medical insurance.

I have had 2 daughters on the nhs, and they where very good, i dont think you can really slate them, just because you had to pay for nits treatment.

its a waste of money go to Lloyd's pharmacy and buy a comb called nit free its 9 99 but was developed by mums fed up of there kids getting head lice it takes the unhatched eggs as well as the nits and hatched eggs out its expensive but it has blunt ends so it does not scratch your child's head i use conditioner with this comb my kids don't have head lice but i use it as a preventive if the comb was to break you send it back to the manufacture and they will send you a new one free the reason the nhs has stopped issuing free kits is because more and more children are getting head lice and its not financially productive for the nhs its wasting tax payers money so they say there strategy is wet combing three times a week prevents nits and the chance of getting them is slim by using this method

If you are on about head lice i would just use metal head lice comb an lots of conditioner ,most over products don't work .does sound dear for combs an sheet though .you being pregnant will be fine i just had a baby an they were fantastic , you will not get them just keep your hair away from your daughter an use just one brush or come till they are gone .

Sooner get rid of the lice and pay eleven pounds than have them on my daughter. Tough on the purse but easy on the head. There are over the counter products to buy, but will still have cost, so just de-louse and let your daughter be free.

If you are wanting it free you are best going to your GP and he will prescribe some Lyclear shampoo (if its nits your talking about). They usually give it to all the family too.
