...Because many are really fat, you must be praying over it every ten minutes,

Are you just really thankful for big gluttonous gorging meals and reserve your ceremonial thanking for that or do you also pray over the gallons of ice cream and bags of potato chips?

And would it be ironic at all that since so many are significantly over weight they actually feel the need to thank God for that meal they don't need when another will surely be around the corner since they never skip a meal--or a snack,
and they could probably live off of their fat for a year?

A woman who is 5'4 and over 145 lbs is overweight,
a man who is 6'0 and over 180 lbs is overweight.
Gluttony is a sin, It is the cause of numerous health conditions and will mean a short life for children,
most people in america are overweight or obese, 65% of americans are overweight,
1 in 5 children are now overweight or obese.
It is a health epidemic/crisis.
Since Gluttony is a moral issue,
and so is self control,
you would think people would be able to control what goes in their mouths as judgementally as how guarded they are about their genitals.

Your rudeness is not making the world any better or anyone any happier.

I hardly think it accurate to suggest that any group of people, including Christians, has the market on fat. We are just a nation beset with overweight, sedentary people. It has trickled down to our children and statistics are alarming. Fast, fatty foods are so accessible, and they taste so good. I don't think a Christian, even one in top physical shape, really stops to pray over each and every snack. I personally want to thank the Lord at each meal and ask Him to bless the food. It's just a brief moment to be mindful that "by His hand, we are all are fed." I think a thankful heart is often a happy heart. Fat or skinny, anyone can develop an attitude of happiness, and live happily off it for many years.

Sweety, I have been on the other side of the coin where getting a meal was a joy..I would be lucky to eat once a day. I do not waste food and yes I pray at every meal. I eat a well balanced diet and take pretty good care of myself.
No one in my family is over weight .

You are making assumption based on no facts .. If you insist on making a derogatory statement please state statistics or at least show your source.Any good argument / debate can do that ...

You have yourself a great day and remember to pray at your next meal.. you never know when you may have another..:)

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually prayed over...unless I forget. Snacks aren't meals.
Anyway, it's not the food's fault that someone gets fat, it's the person's fault. The fact is, they have food to eat, which is more than a lot of people have. There's nothing wrong in being thankful for that, it's just the eating too much part that's not good for your soul (and your six-pack, but anyway...)

ouch....fat? c'mon I could lose 10 more lb I suppose...

unless I forget I do pray over every meal
its good to be thankful in all things

I think when my dad lost his job 30ish years ago and it wasn't certain where the meal would come from I got really thankful and the practice stuck

one Christian I know skipped lunch for over 10 years to fast, fasting not practices as much in the west as it possibly should I do not fast as often as I should probably, but fasting can be misused as well

every good thing can be abused, food is hardly the only one and in the 7 deadly sins gluttony is still on the list

Rudeness is a sin too .... so I'll have to ask you to lower the stone you are so carelessly throwing :)

You evidently don't go to my church, the majority there are not overweight. Those who are struggle with it daily. I suppose I am wondering at the condition of your heart to so viciously attack people who struggle with their problem, are aware of it, and pray daily that God will help them stand firm.

But I suppose it doesn't matter, you really just wanted to attack overweight people, and hurt the feelings of Christians. That's sad that you feel the need to do so in order to make yourself feel better.

To answer your question, yes, we pray before every single meal.

Wow this is a really deep and meaningful question.
Sometimes I forget to pray over my meal, I'll admit it.
It's not a sin to forget that however, and I'm good with that
But I don't have prejudices over fat people or any people for that matter. God looks into the heart of a person, so you may be in more trouble than the fat people you are bashing.

No, not really but some Christians do pray over their meals.

If you go to Mc Donald's or whatever fast food, you'll notice that you see very few people praying over before the meal.

It's really for thanking God for the food.

I get your point, but there are a lot of Christians who eat healthy. God does tell us in the Bible that we are supposed to keep our bodies as a temple. Even Daniel ate fruit and vegetables when all the big men ate meat, and he found favor with God and was made strong. When Christians eat food that is bad for them (even though pretty much all the American food is bad for you, so we don't have many options) they are not doing what they are supposed to. However, we should thank God for our food, and our lives, and our families. People are always expecting Christians to be perfect, but we are people, we strive to be like Jesus, but we aren't Jesus. There is one difference between Christians and non-Christians; Christians have accepted Christ into their lives, and non-Christians haven't. Non-Christians and Christians alike are sinners, and humans. I hope that helps. I'll leave you with one of my favorite verses;
Ephesians 2:8-9 which basically says that we are saved by God's grace through our faith in Him, His grace is a gift. We can't win salvation by how good we are, because no one is perfect and no one can out weigh their sin. Thanks for reading, and God bless.

I was prepared to answer your question with a truthful "Sometimes I forget to pray if it is just a sandwich." Then I read the rest of what you wrote and this is not about praying at all! Live off of our fat for a year! How rude! You just thought about how you could insult Christians, and came up with this!
