As one of the public affairs specialist that actually help work on the Army Stong filming at Fort Riley, they changed it from Army Of One because it was giving the wrong condentation of the Army. Army Stong (though I agree it could have been much better than that), shows that the Army is one of the strongest military. We have stong Soldiers who will make the Army stong.

Because the Army has REALLY BAD public relations consultants! Army of One was a stupid slogan - it sounds like the US Army only has one guy in it, and how threatening is that? The Spanish langauge version ("Yo Soy El Army" - "I Am The Army") was even stupider!

And Army Strong sounds like they drafted the GEICO caveman! They should have a followup commercial with a caveman driving a tank "The M 1 Abrams - so simple, a caveman can use it!".

The Army needs a better advertising agency!!!

The Army is a team. The Army of One seems to be out of touch with the army concept.

I couldn't tell you. They bothe are lame as hell.

The classics are the best;

"We do more before 9a.m. than most people do all day"

"Be all that you can be"

They should simply admit they were wrong for changing it and take it back to the REAL slogans...

I agree. The berret should have never been standard for the RA. We should have kept it as it was.

However, Combat Engineers were the first to recieve the black berret. The Rangers took it from them in the late 40's i believe.

Or taking the Ranger Black beret, which has been tradition and giving it to every soldier. Sad sad sad!

It was all for recruitment purposes. They do have some cool commercials. but just like you earn your rank, your patches and your commendations, so too should you earn the right to wear a beret.

This new army of ours that lets in anyone is beyond me

The Army of One is terrible. But Army Strong is better. It isnt "Frankenstein" speak, as you say. It is not saying that the army is strong. Heck, we all know that, but it is trying to describe what KIND of strong. And Army strong is different than "weight lifter" strong or "working mother of 6 kids" strong or "climb telephone poles and repair stuff" strong, it is ARMY strong. It takes a special kind of person to join the army and put up with everything that goes along with being a soldier.

It really does take Army Strong to do it. Obviously you arent.

Because they need a new marketing company. All the commercials about talking to parents are lame and wussy, too. Not that I don't respect parents, but if you're 18 and want to join the army, just say "I'm joining the army." If you're man enough to get shot at, I think you're man enough to tell your parents about it.

Should be something like Semper Illic. Or Conpacta Comitum Validus.
