He has a rountine which I have regiously stuck too!! He goes out up to four times a day for nice walks..I don't get it!! Help x x

4.5 months is still very young . When you are home your pup is likely more active which makes his metabolism more active which in turn makes his potty needs become more frequent. You need to keep a constant eye on him for any sign he needs to go potty. get him on a schedule when you are home. Take him out right after eating or napping. I take my 7 month old Boxer out about every half hour when I get home and he's playing. After a couple of hours his potty needs slow down. It does take some dogs up to a year to be completely trustworthy with potty needs in the house. It may help to hang a bell on the door you go out.Touch it to Alfies nose each time you go out and make a huge happy big deal when he does potty outside. It takes time, persistence and consistency on your part. He'll eventually get the hang of it. Good luck

He more than likely sleeps whilst you are out. He is still just a baby so when you are with him you should take him out into the garden regularly (every 30 mins or so) and make sure you praise him loudly every time he goes to the toilet. Don't tell him off when he goes to the toilet indoors unless you actually catch him in the act as he won't associate the telling off with the act.

He will get the hang of it in the end if you do the above religiously. Good luck.

Hes probably taking the entire house as his on territory. Even if he listens to normal commands he'll do what he wants in a place he thinks is his. If hes very good on commands liek you say try using the pads where the dog can be and train him to use those with the reward system. Eventually he should get used to it.

this could be just seperation anxiety, and as he gets older and relizes that you will be back he will grow more confident that you have not left him forever and that you will be back. just give him time
