Try getting a new puppy. Most new borns are sure winners to help with depressions like that.

Ivory, My heart truly goes out to you, a pet is just like a family member to many of us. The time has to feel right for YOU. No one else can tell you how long to wait. Some people get a new dog right away, others wait. My Mom's friend went through the same thing and we kept asking her to get a new puppy, she 'd answer "Not for a year or so." One day she saw an ad in the paper, and four weeks, not a year, later, she had a new companion which has changed her life a lot!

Even though it may be difficult, you should wait in my opinion. Animals are part of the family and you must take time to grieve.
Getting a puppy right away might seem like a good way to get over your depression, but I think it is a way to 'replace' Beauty. In my opinion, wait a few months and then you'll know when you are ready. You must give your self time. As far as depression over her death, that is natural as well. There are pet loss support groups around the nation if you need someone to talk to. Your vet can also help. Just take care of yourself.

I'm sorry for your loss, but you can't have somebody answer this question for you. It's something you have to figure out for yourself. Are you ready for a new dog? Will you be able to have patience with a new puppy/dog. The new dog will not be Beauty and will not act like Beauty, so don't expect him/her to do what Beauty did.

However, what did your dog die from? Some kind of disease? If that's the case then wait and steralize your house, throw out any toy, pet dish, leash, etc that Beauty may have touched.

Hi Ivory , so sorry to hear about your loss. Your beauty dog had a nice, long life, thanks to you and those that loved her.
If it's not the right time for you to get another dog, don't get one.
Some people want another dog right away, but most seem to need time to mourn the loss first.
But, if you feel horrible lack of friend, so you nothing can not stop, search good breeder and get your beauty new pup or dog. I hope your new dog will live as long and give you as much joy.

First I wanna say sorry for your loss, I also lost a forever friend not to long ago.

I think getting another pet is a personal choice, but just dont think that the new dog will measure up to exactly the friend you lost.

I personally got a totally different breed because I felt no other could measure up to my last pet.

By all means get another dog. I would wait a couple of months to make sure you have grieved enough over Beauty.

Go to the shelter and get a dog. That way your beloved dogs death will help an unwanted dog get a home. You will be helping a dog and honoring your lost dog with a great gesture. Shelter dogs may need some patience and time but I do believe that they are grateful and that they know what you did for them.

By getting another dog your not trying to or even going to replace her but just fill the void that she has left. I think it's a great idea it will take your mind off things and will help you move on. Be prepared to still have sad times x
Go for it!

So sad! I know it is difficult to get over it. But at least you have to try like getting a new pet/dog. Maybe this would help!
