Be a nurturing parent: Children need to know that they are special, loved and capable of following their dreams.

Help a friend, neighbor or relatives: Being a parent isn't easy. Offer a helping hand -- take care of the children, so the parent(s) can rest or spend time together.

Help yourself: When the big and little problems of your everyday life pile up to the point you feel overwhelmed and out of control -- take time out. Don't take it out on your kid.

If your baby cries: It can be frustrating to hear your baby cry. Learn what to do if your baby won't stop crying. Never shake a baby -- shaking a child may result in severe injury or death.

Get involved: Ask your community leaders, clergy, library, and schools to develop services to meet the needs of healthy children and families. Help to develop parenting resources at your local library.

Promote programs in school: Teaching children, parents, and teachers prevention strategies can help to keep children safe.

Monitor your child's television and video viewing: Watching violent films and TV programs can harm your children.

Volunteer at a local child abuse prevention program: For information about volunteering opportunities, contact your local abused child program.

Report suspected abuse or neglect: If you have reason to believe a child has been or may be harmed, call your local department of children and family services or your local police department.

I think that too many sexual predators get out and get lost in the system. Most sexual acts on a child or from repeat offenders or family members. Many times, social services are called beforehand but the case is not investigated enough. Our prisons are filled to the max and it costs the taxpayers less to have these sickos out on parole instead of put away.

The best way to stop child sexual abuse is through education. Educate our kids on stranger danger, educate parents on the warning signs of abuse, educate our teens so the women don't end up with dead beats, educate moms and dads to have enough self esteem to not turn their eyes and ignore what's in front of them.

The battle starts at home, and we need to step up and fight with all the knowledge we can.

We could stop it if we were to just execute one child predator in the public square and promise to do it to every single one we catch. Actually I guess this probably wont work either but I wish there was a way to guarantee it would stop. The effects of child sexual abuse are horrific~!!

We can stop this from home. Always listen to your children and let them know that you are the person to come to when they feel something isn't right. Don't condone secrecy...talk to your kids frankly about sex and their bodies. Let them know that you are in control and will always keep them safe. Never dismiss their fears or make them feel ashamed of their bodies. Our family has a password and kids don't go with anyone unless they know the password. (Some predators will tell a child to go with them because Mommy's sick.) Instruct your child to yell "NO!" and run to the nearest policeman or Mom-with-children if someone they don't know tries to pick them up. You don't need to frighten your child or tell them that "a stranger could take them away forever",just give them a sense of empowerment.

first off, catholic priests should be allowed to marry, that would stop about 1/5 of sexual abuse and second, cut off the penises of guilty child molesters because they NEVER STOP!! this country is way too lenient on these people and it pisses me off so much!! they screw kids up so bad, the death penalty should be in effect.
