Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to what I might have here... I had a flu virus (diaherrea, nauseous - but no vomiting, clamminess, etc.) the past two days and yesterday it morphed into this weird rash. It's concentrated in my scalp and forehead but is also on my arms and legs (and most irritating, my arm pit). The rash looks about the size of a large whitehead pimple but no puss and more red in colour. In some places it looks like a heat rash - lots of small, red dots.

Any ideas whether this is a virus or measles, or what? I have no clue.

BTW: I feel a lot better today except for the rash, which itches like crazy!!!!!

Thanks.

Did you have a fever? It could be scarlet fever!

The rash is the most striking sign of scarlet fever. It usually begins looking like a bad sunburn with tiny bumps and it may itch. The rash usually appears first on the neck and face, often leaving a clear unaffected area around the mouth. It spreads to the chest and back, then to the rest of the body. In body creases, especially around the underarms and elbows, the rash forms classic red streaks. Areas of rash usually turn white when you press on them. By the sixth day of the infection the rash usually fades, but the affected skin may begin to peel.

I had something like this a couple of years ago, and I was diagnosed with erythema multiforme (it was so bad it put me in the hospital, but yours seems to be going away). The only thing they could do was give me pain meds and steroids, and watch the rash until it went away. You should def. go to your doctor.

It could be strep. It isn't always in the throat. Get yourself checked by a doctor.
