10. He's the winningest active driver out there. 75 wins, 4 Cup Championships.... Show me proof that he isn't the best out there?! Anyone?!

And Yes, He is the hottest driver on the circuit right now, w/ the exception of Mark Martin. Since Mark isn't running the full schedule, Gordon is basically your points leader. And think about this?! If not for that fire-wall problem, or w/e they had @ the end of Atlanta.. Just say he somehow DIDNT win that race that he was dominating @ the time of the problem, he had atleast a top-5 car. That'd be a 10th, two 2nd place finishes, and then another top-5... That's the best start to a season hes had since... Well, Since he won the CUP

Can I say 11? LOL. Jeff Gordon is by far one of the best out there right now and always has been. Everyone see's down times as he has. But he also has not finished in the top ten 3 straight times the first 3 races of the season since 1997. Jeff Gordon has come out strong this year and I think we will see him in victory lane more then once as well as take the cup this year. Looking for #5 and he is due. Would be great to see hendrick take home the cup back to back. Just like when Gordon won in 97' and 98'.

If we are talking about how good he used to be then 9-10, but right now he is not doing as well as i think he could be. Now this season he is showing some of the old Jeff Gordon driving....But i am a Dale Jr fan, but i will not take away the fact the Jeff is a good driver.

All great answers and I would have to concur with the exception of that Muz guy. Since when did whining and having too much money become a factor in driving skills? Geezuz, sounds like someone else is whining. NASCAR.com rated Jeff as the #1 in power rankings. I'm a huge #24 Fan and reports state that Jeff has adapted best on the COT. But I have to admit, theres Stewart and Burton out there and 24 has to stay consistent. I would say 8.5.

Sorry for the side note here, but if you are The #1 Red Sox Fan shouldn't you be cheering for the Roush drivers now? Anyway, if whoever you consider the best driver ever is a 10 then Gordon has to be in the 9.7 range. I'm not his biggest fan but he has accomplished more in the time he has been racing than several of the greats combined. When it is all said and done he could end up as the best ever.
