GMR Industries and Frankfurt Airport are in charge of the renovation of Delhi Airport. The international terminal has two new lounges for first and business class passengers, so the airport now has three first/business lounges. There is also a lounge for economy class travelers. Duty free shops such as Gucci, Armani, and many more as well as Indian shops such as Pantaloons will be in the International airport by spring of 2007.

Bangalore International Airport Limited : Construction of the new airport began on July 2, 2005 and commercial operation is planned to begin in April 2008. Originally, this airport was to be able to handle 4-5 million passengers annually, with a single runway (13200 ft in length). However, given the sharp increase in passenger traffic in 2005, the airport has been redesigned so that its terminals will be able to handle 11 million passengers in the first phase, and will open, as scheduled, in April 2008.

Recently a consortium called Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), consisting of GVK and Airports Company of South Africa(ACSA), was appointed to carry out the modernisation of the Mumbai Airport. The airport is currently undergoing upgrades in order to make it compatible with the new Airbus A380. The changes include installation of a two tiered aerobridge, expansion of taxi bays and concrete reinforcements of the runway.

Mumbai and Delhi airports are being renovated and they are also making new airports. Nagpur airport is being upgraded to international airport. Many other airports in india are presently being renovated or upgraded, due to the boom in aviation and a sudden increase in the number of aircrafts due to an increase in the number of private airlines.
