Frederick J. Ossius, inventor of the mixer


Lillian Moller Gilbreth (1878-1972) holds the patent on this invention. The mother of 12 also is credited with creating those trash cans with the foot lever to open the lid, and was a pioneer in the field of ergonomics.

There is actually some discrepancy as to who the first inventor was, and it also depends on whether or not you are speaking of the first electric mixer, or the first mixer (which was not electric).

The first patent that can claim to be for an electric mixer was issued on November 17, 1885 to Rufus M. Eastman.

In 1870, Turner Williams of Providence, RI, invented the first hand-cranked egg beater. U.S. Patent 103811
