My wife and I have been raising our grandchildren since birth, they are 3 and 4 yrs old. The Egg donor (mother) sees the kids a few times a week for a few minutes, she stays mostly unemployed,no car,no license, she is to disrespectful and dishonest to stay in our home. She collects a little bit of child support from 1 of the sperm donors (fathers) but keeps it for herself. One of the sperm donors pays a little bit of child support and sees the child about once every six months. he makes a lot of plans to see the child but doesnt show.
The other sperm donor pays no child support, has only seen the child maybe twice in his life stays unemployed to avoid child support. He is a known drug user and a real bum.

Are there laws that would give my wife and I custody. We cannot afford to pay the outragous amount of money that local lawyers want . We only want to protect the children.
We live in North Carolina

oh those poor kids.... they are so lucky to have you guys step up to the plate and help them.

first, you need to establish custody... in a court of law. THEN you can go after child support from ALL of them... as well as recieve what she does for the child (and keeps for herself).

call your local Legal Aid Office. they are in every state and most counties. your state Bar Assoc will have the info on Legal Aid.

IRS regulation and rules trump state regulations in this question. many times the custodial discern has finished rights to all tax deductions for the youngsters. that is because of the fact the regulation states that whoever provides you over 50% of the help for a minor baby gets the tax deductions and credit for the youngsters. That pronounced if a divorce decide says in a court order which better half gets the tax deduction, the IRS many times will save on with that ruling, however the IRS isn't legally sure by ability of the concepts of a State decide. no rely if it incredibly is an agreed divorce order signed by ability of the two events and not one compelled upon you by ability of the decide, then you would desire to abide by ability of what that settlement says. otherwise the custodial discern gets the deduction. each now and then a third social gathering who's offering the help at the same time with a Grandparent, gets the deduction.

I would suggest you speak with your local legal aid. This should be a free service. There should also be some attorneys that will do this pro bono.

Good luck. The children deserve more than what their biological parents are providing.

you could contact your local "friend of the court". try to google it. grandparents have rights also. good luck, and i praise you for being not just a grandparent, but a parent to those children. my mother would never have taken my 2 kids for even 1 night.
