How can you cook mashed potatoes with French fries? One's boiled & mashed and the other's deep fried.
If you put your mash in the oil with the fries, you'd end up with a load of crunchy bits of spud, and if you put your fries in the boiling water for the mash, you'd end up with very soggy fries!

What a peculiar question. French fries are thin potato chips that are fried whereas mashed potatoes are boiled until soft and mashed with milk and butter.I personally can't see the connection unless you have a meal with both mash and fries accompanying the main ingredient.,but I can't envisage cooking them together.

(L)
INGREDIENTS:
6 large baking potatoes, cut into strips (about 1/3 to 1/2-inch thickness and width)
oil for deep frying
salt
PREPARATION:
Soak potatoes in ice cold water for 1 hour at room temperature. Drain well; pat dry with paper towels.
Heat oil in deep fryer to about 375°.
Place potato strips in a single layer in deep fry basket; fry in hot oil for about 4 minutes, or until golden brown and tender.
Drain on paper towels then keep warm in the oven while frying remaining batches.
Serves 4 to 6.
