Yes, but there are a few myths about this that make people squeamish. If the chef knows what he's doing, this is a very humane way to kill the lobster.

The lobster dies almost instantly as its head is plunged into the water, this is why a good chef will drop (not just place) the lobster into the water headfirst so that it is completely submerged in order to kill it as quickly and painlessly as possible. The water must also be absolutely boiling and still on the heat.

Lobsters do not scream when they are being cooked as they are already dead. The whining noise you may sometimes hear comes when part of the shell is out of the water and air trapped between the flesh and the shell is heated, expands and whistles as it escapes through gaps in the carapace (overlapping shell-plates). It is worth considering that shellfish cannot make any noise when alive that a human can hear, so they are even less likely to do it when dead!

i think you under no circumstances had a hamburger? Porkchop? Fried fowl? Fish Fillet? Shrimp? except you devour not something yet leaves & seeds some thing dies. some individuals even think of vegetation experience soreness. choose the lobster to die painlessly? Freeze him first. The chilly places the critter in hibernation mode till now being boiled. i've got regular some chefs who stab the lobster interior the top first. uncertain if it makes any distinction.

no....cuz those poor things cry! I let the cooks do it tho. Eating other animals is part of life and I like burgers. I just don't think of them slaughtering the poor cows.
