When i take the butter from the fridge in the morning for my toast, i run hot water over the knife and this makes it easy to get the butter thinly and spread easily on the toast.
It is ok to keep butter out of the fridge but not advisable in a hot kitchen. Good luck and happier spreading the butter on your toast.

The butter spreads better if you keep it at room temp for about 15 minutes

It's fine to leave butter at room temperature for a while. I usually take a stick out before I start cooking. It's usually soft enough to spread in 30 minutes.

I have a butter dish and leave a stick of butter in there all the time so I will have soft butter for toast and making grilled cheese sandwiches or whatever. I wouldn't leave it out in a broiling hot kitchen or next to a sunny window, but at normal household temperature it is fine.

You can leave it at room temperature for a while-or get a butter bell, that you can keep your butter at room temp all the time because it's sealed under water.

Get a butter dish and leave it out on the kitchen unit. Unless the weather is really warm.

I usually use the butter when it's soft, not hard from the fridge.

I keep my butter out all the time, a half-pound at a time. I do have to keep it in the cupboard because my cats love the midnight snack lol...

I always buy spreadable butter but my friend buys traditional and gets it out every morning and puts it away once she's done with it for the day.
