You don't know who your kids are? Unless your name is either Tom or Lin Milano you are NOT her parents.

There are several steps to learn your Family Tree. First is to start with yourself, then work your way back using Vital Records (Birth, Marriage and Death), and if you have secondary records (obituaries, school records, pictures, bibles, etc). So, you get some Software to organize your information, see the types below, about $30 dollars US.

Then interview all your living family members for who their parents are, and what they know about their Grandparents, and their Greatgrandparents, and so on. There are charts at the sites below that you use during the interview process to keep you focused on collecting information about the Family Tree. Don't forget to collect stories and pictures, those are treasures for your family.

Next begin to enter all the information into your software package. Once entered, look at the Tree pictures and see the generations where you have a lot of information, and where you do not. Focus on a branch at a time, and continue to improve a branch at a time.
