Here are the verses I believe you mentioned...

Job 26:7 (NIV):

He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.

Isaiah 40:22 (NIV):

He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

God bless.

How could the authors of Scripture know more about science than present day scientists? Should this ignorance be a blow to the authority of the Bible? O course not. The Bible is not a scientific manual. It is a book of revelation about God, his creatures, and their relationship with him. God allowed our understanding of science to develop slowly over the centuries, but he gave us all we needed to know him, love him, and serve him throughout all ages. He gave us divine truth.

Grace and peace!

Science knew the world was round in the greek days, early roman scientists even guessed at the dimension of the earth pre 150 bc. It was the lack of solid proof that made these theories not facts.

Oceanography
Fact Bible verses Date of verse Discovered by science
The oceans have circulating currents or 'paths' Psalms 8:8
Isaiah 43:16 About 1000 BC
746-680 BC Late 1800's. Dr. Matthew Maury is considered one of the major founders of the science of oceanography. He was a also a creationist who believed in the absolute authority and accuracy of the Bible. One day while he was sick in bed, he asked his son to read the Bible to him. One of the verses his son read was Psalms 8:8. That particular verse mentioned "paths" in the seas. Believing that the Bible must be correct about these "paths", he set out to find them. As a result, Dr. Maury was the first to discover (in modern times) that the seas were circulating systems with interaction between wind and water.
There are springs that arise from the ocean floor Job 38:16 950 BC or earlier The earliest secular references to these springs was by the Roman geographer Strabo, who lived from 63 BC to 21 AD. (1)
Mountains and deep valleys exist on the ocean floor Job 38:16

Jonah 2:5-6 950 BC or earlier
840 or 586 BC The Challenger expedition (1873-1876) commenced the first scientific exploration of the ocean floor, during which a canyon 5 1/2 miles deep was discovered in the Pacific. (1)

whahahaha that is all bunk.

- the bible thinks pi equals three.
- hanging off nothing implies a serious error in your logic and misunderstanding the nature of the universe
- the bible also states the earth has four corners
- the bible also states that if you stand on a tall mountain you can see the entire earth
- remember Galileo (a christian I might add)? persecuted by the church for his heliocentric theories, instead of the geocentric view accepted by the church at the time who took these ideas from the bible.

There is no such book or facts. The Bible is not a science book. In the Bible, it says that the earth is flat, resting on four pillars. This does not make the Bible incredible as a faith book. As a science book yes as would a cook book or a book of puzzles etc.

Henry, another great internet bible sight is blueletterbible. It has word and phrase search and links to many different translations. It also has lists of commentaries and sermon notes that are great to help understand difficult passages.

Remember that the Bible is not a science book. There are no mistakes, reader just need to understand the ancient writing.

You need to understand the text. Like four corners of the earth refers to north and south and east and west. : )

Genesis 1 mentions the forming of the world, if you read the first few chapters of Genesis, it will tell you about the creation of the universe, Earth, and mankind, as well as all other forms of life, and even the "terra-forming" of the Earth itself, (no mention of dinosaurs though, which is puzzling, since they pre-date man by 65 million years).
