When you are studying you should have a short break every 10 - 15 minutes.
It's proven that you retain the knowledge better if you do it in small bursts rather than sit for hours at a time.

Maybe you need to change your study skills. Good results cant come straight away. They come slowly once you yourself truely earn them and then all your work will be worth it. Also make hw fun by giving yourslf treats. Maybe study with some friends and that way you could help eachother and have fun at the same time. Think about it, you'll finish school, you may not see your friends everyday and you'll have so many responsibilties and a lot of hard work that you will wish you were back at school. At least at school if you make a bad decision or fail an exam you are forgiven but older people have harsher consequences if they do something wrong. Wouldnt you love to be in grade 1 again? Nothing to think about, so carefree. Yeah? well thats how you will feel when you finish school and go to uni or wherever you want to go. Cherish the time you have now and have fun :)

Don't try and cram in a semester's worth of material into a few days of studying. If you read throughout the class, studying should be a matter of studying your notes and going over key concepts and vocabulary words. It sounds like you suffer from test anxiety also. The best way to avoid test anxiety is to study all along and then the day before the test only review briefly and then get a good night's sleep. Relax on test day, whether that is telling yourself that the test is "no big deal" or whatever, just don't go in there thinking everything rides on that test or your brain will clamp down and you won't remember a thing. You know the material, just relax and let your brain function to retrieve what you already know. Good luck!

Perhaps you are going about studying the wrong way. How do you learn best? There are 7 recognized ways that people learn: for example, some people are audio/visual learners, they learn best in class from the instructor. Some people learn best by reading, some by doing. I can't think of the other ways. I think that I read this in a book by Robert Kiyosaki.

An the depression issue: what are your dreams? It's hard to stay motivated without some idea of what you're doing this for!

I recommend you read James Redfield's books:

The Celestine Prophecy
The Tenth Insight
The Secret of Shambhala

These are written as an adventure series, so they are easy/fun reads, but contain a lot of useful information on leading a better/healthier life and figuring out what you want to accomplish in life. Each is around 200 pages.

Also, read
The Power of Intention by Dr. James W Dyer.

and see: What the Bleep do we Know? - movie/documentary

sorry to hear that.

i cant help you with advise on how to get through studying as i hated it too.

what i can say is, it may be a drag now, but it is soon over. only when you leave school do you realise how "easy" you had it! i know that sound s awful to say, but it's true!

i found school such a bore, but since leaving...(16 years ago now) i look back on that time and wish i'd done things differently. i was lucky enough to have jobs i enjoyed, i do like work, i just couldn't be bothered to learn about thing i had no interest in.

exams:it's not the end of the world if you dont do btilliantly. i got a few A's but nothing worth writing home about.

but now, i'm 33 and starting uni in sept, doing a graphic design course to fill my days whilst my son is only pre-school. i gained alot of work experience in graphics over my 20's and so i'm doing a degree with experience of the subject, of working life and what i actually have interests in.

i felt terrible when leaving school, feeling like an under achiever, but now i'm mature enough and want it enough to do well!

good luck with your exams and with life after school.

yes! i know how hard it feels to study! what i do is make an outline or summary about some studies that are hard to memories so i can easily memorise it..... not having a hard tiem. and always remember ti pause every after subject or u may have a tough time, might cause yah mental block during the test ^_^
