find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

What kind of weight are you looking at losing and how fast do you want to lose them?
I specialize in helping people lose weight quickly and healthily and i myself lost 15kg within 2 mths via a detox.

6 oz of lean protein daily (chicken or fish)
Fresh fruits and veggies that are not starchy or sugarry, like bananas have lots of sugar, so limit those, apples have extra fat burning quality. Broccoli and other cruciferous veggies( cauliflower and sprouts) help the liver get rid of fat.
Lemon juice, eggs(limit)
Flax seed or fish oil(I think flax is safer b/c of the mercury found in some fish oils) Flax is wonderful for almost everything, even ADD...
Whey protein, if you fix a whey shake with frozen fruits and some flax oil you will stay satisfied for hours and feel the energy!
There are tons more, basicly stay away from any processed foods and you are on track!
Remember a small, single serving of chocolate or whatever your thing may be wont kill you, but if you deprive yourself for weeks then binge big time you will hate yourself!

A well balanced diet. Anything, even fruits and vegetables, can harm you if you dont eat them in moderation. So follow the food guide pyramid, and get some execrise, and you will lose weight the healthy way.

Drink lots and lots of water. Try not to eat any white foods, (i.e. white bread,rice,potatoes) I have been doing this for one month and I lost 15 pounds.
