In detecting any fault in electronic appliances one has to split the unit /system into parts, namely power supply unit, signal generation unit, signal processing unit as while as the output.

once you have split the system as a whole you will need the basic measuring instrument such as the multmeter, solding iron, solder sucker, screw driver and soldering wire.

in case of the unit being partialy damaged you need to use the signal generator to help you trace the faulty area easily.
