Make sure to clip her nails regularly with a nail clipper. If you don't they turn into little needles.

Yes. You can do it yourself carefully with a nail clipper. Wrap her in a towel or old pair of jeans so the other 3 paws don't get you while you are doing 1. It helps to have someone else hold her if they really will hold her and hang on. Clip just the very tip that curves a little. It is much better to take less than more because there are blood vessels in the claws if you go too deep. A vet or groomer can do this for you also. If she is very hyper and uncooperative that would be the better way. There is also a product called soft paws that is applied to put a cap on the claw. They have to be redone every 3 months or so and are somewhat expensive but may be worth it. Your vet or groomer can tell you more about them.

You can cut her claws. If you gently squeeze the top and bottom of her paw between your finger and thumb, her nails should pop out. Take a good look at them and you will notice a pink strip running through it, don't cut this, it has blood vessels in it, you just want to take off the tip. A pair of human nail clippers can be used to do it.

If you're not sure about doing it you have two choices, you can take her to the vet and have them show you which if you need to go anyway for shots or anything shouldn't cost anything extra but if you go for that alone, it might cost you quite a bit. The other option is to take your cat to a groomer and ask them to show you how to do it. Give them a call and ask how much and if they would mind showing you how.

If she freaks out, you can start massaging her paws when she sits with you, just stroke them gently to get her used to you touching them give it a few days and if she's comfortable with it, then you can go ahead with clipping.

I have included a link below, it has pictures of how to do it with written instructions. It's a piece of cake once you and your cat are used to it.

You can clip a cat's claws but make sure you don't cut to the 'quick' which runs up the middle of the claw and is usually visible. Just cut the curved part of the nail at the end.

Kittens are small and so are their claws, and the smaller points are what make them more like needles. Cats claws grow just like a dogs, and if not worn down naturally, you can clip them. However I suggest you only take off just the tip to lessen the sharpness so to not irritate the kitty.

Yep you can. They'll need to be done every 2-3 weeks, even if you give her plenty to scratch on.

You can buy special nail cutters for cats which are better than human nail clippers (which can crush the nail). Just hold your kitty firmly or have someone do it for you (I find it easier to hold them myself, it puts me on a better angle).

Hold their in paw in one hand and feel around for the toe, press gently on it and it and it will extract. Snip the tip.

As you get more comfortable you can cut off a little more, just be sure not to go too far or you might cut the quick and she'll bleed. If you do accidently cut her, put a little flour on the cut and it will stop.

Just keep going around doing all her nails. You don't need to worry about the back ones, they stay pretty good on their own.

If you're scared to do it at first, you can have your vet show you how to do to (if you have a vet visit coming up). If not, a pet groomer charges about $5 and she'll cut them for you and show you how to do it properly.

When you take her to the vet, ask them to show you how to cut her nails. I'm sure they would be more than happy to. We cut our cat's claws on a regular occasion because her claws will start snagging in the carpet. She's always much happier after getting it done. Good luck!

I clip my cats claws all the time. I got them used to it at an early age. There is also a product called soft paws...check it out!

Please don't declaw your cat. Even though you keep her indoors, if she ever got out, she would have no defense against other animals without her claws.

I get my cats nails clipped at PetSmart. It's $8.00 per cat and $12 if you want their ears cleaned too. It takes about 5 minutes to do, and it is easier than trying to do it yourself where you may injure them.

Hope this helps!

you can get her to a vet to have the nails clipped; it's the safest way; i would suggest using a nail file to make them smoother, not clipping; if you accidentally clip the part of the nail which is still sensitive...i bet your cat won't be to happy about that.
