I can imagine as a mother, this is tearing you up and my thoughts are with you during this stressful time. I was born with a similar problem to your son's, only my hole wasn't discovered until I was 20 years old. It was called an atrial septal defect, and because of the size of the hole and that it went undetected for so long, it started to cause heart failure. I had surgery 6 weeks ago, and the doctor was excellent.
In my case, it was a matter of sewing the two sides together and taking care of some of other problems that had developed. They can either sew holes shut by sewing the two sides of the atrial wall (or the two sides of the ventricular wall, if it's a vsd) together, or they can use a synthetic membrane to cover it.
You are very fortunate that it was found while your son was this young, because as people get older, a lot more complications can develop like, in my case enlargement and heart failure, or pulmonary hypertension. It's a pediatric condition. Recovery is going to be rough, he may be in some pain for little while and he may tire easily, but in the long run, he's going to feel great. You'd be surprised how resilient the body is. In my case, all the problems it caused are well on their way to being completely reversed. It's probably going to be a lot harder for you than it's going to be for him- I know it was for my own mother. Hang in there and have faith in your health care providers, particularly the surgeon. He or she is well-educated and only wants to see your son lead a normal life.

It is quite a common surgical procedure & is mostly very safe. Do your research so that you have all the right questions to ask your doctors & understand completely what is & what will, be going on. Empower yourself with this knowledge & you will feel less helpless for you & your baby. Best of luck, you are in a situation most parents fear most.

They are going to quarrentine her so she does not get any individual else's germs. A very well pal of mine's little boy had open middle surgical procedure while he used to be approximately two days historic and once more at two months and once more two weeks later. He grew to become one million on Sept. 1st and is going in once more on Dec. five to interchange the valve once more. Point being, he's a healthful little one, besides for his middle valve. He could be doing pleasant after which simply needed to pass in instantly, so it does occur. I recognise you desire the understanding RIGHT NOW, however my pal advised me that once I could name her and simply speak approximately different matters and simply allow her recognise I used to be considering them and there if she wanted me, it used to be a higher support than something. Your sister is by and large frantic proper now and simply demands you to be there for her. She is having to provide an explanation for this to one hundred exceptional persons I am definite, so do not ask too many questions proper now and simply be there for her. That is my recommendation from individual enjoy, handling a mother who used to be going by way of it. And do not be amazed if she does not desire to speak plenty, she will be concentrating all her vigor on her little one woman, which she must be.
