If your Limewire program won't run, then there is a high probability that you have been infected with the Klobowsky.net virus. This particular virus was manufactured by record companies and spread through P2P file sharing programs as a way of stopping illegal file sharing. It has 2 main functions. Firstly is will record all of your PC's information (including your IP address) and report it back to a central location for further processing.

Secondly, it has been known to shut down the file sharing program, forcing all who wish to continue using it to uninstall it and re-install. It has been known to, on the odd occasion, corrupt files already on the PC and require a full hard drive reformat. Some users have reported that they have inadvertently infected friends PC's after sending an e-mail or having a chat on Yahoo or MSN Messenger.

I strongly recommend you refrain from using file sharing programs. It is much safer that way.

A couple things. 1. Turning your firewall off temporarily isn't risky. It's highly unlikely that in the 5 minutes that it's off, your computer is going to be attacked. What it seems like is that the ports required for Limewire to run are not open. However, it could be anything really. Have you tried restarting your computer? Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall Limewire? You could also look into Frostwire, considering it's based on Limewire, runs on the same network, etc.

You can try clicking on Disconnect and wait 3 sec then reconnect. (helps me)

Is your firewall allowing Limewire to access to the internet?
You as well might want to take the first answer's advice. Try downloading AVG anti spyware.
