$100 to purchase a goat for charity for Christmas.
$22 a month to Children International.
($50 also went to the animal shelter at home, in one of the poorest counties in New York State.)
... thus far, then, $166 or $66 depending on whether the Christmas gift counts. I am a law student who makes $140 a week from my part-time job (scholarship covers my rent, but no other living expenses.) The Indiana minimum wage is not exactly favorable, and after two and a half years at my job I'm only making (approximately) $7/hr.
I could stand to give far more, considering that I have cable TV and wireless internet.

Directly? A few pounds to sellers of the Big Issue magazine.
Each month by regular payments to various charities, humanitarian and to help projects abroad .
But I think we can always help further. Why not buy some 'fairly traded' coffee, chocolate or orange juice? Yes, it costs a few pennies more, but that goes a long way in somewhere like Guatemala or Thailand.
As for how much, I don't know. 2% of income? Not much.

I don't keep track, and I don't like to toot my own horn. God knows how much I've donated, and that's enough for me.

Not offended, sweetie, I simply think your question is rude.
I don't have a lot of time for people who try to boast about their charitable acts.
Three down-thumbs? Oh, my heart is breaking.
