I've been trying to lose weight for the last 5 weeks. To begin with I didn't weight myself but I knew I had lost some weight. Then I weighed myself 3 weeks ago which I'm glad I did, but I just seem to be losing a couple of pounds, then they go back on, and then I lose them again - it's just going round in circles! I eat 3 small meals a day and take an average amount of exercise. I weighed myself on Saturday, weighed myself again today and I've put on 2 pounds! How come??! I truly don't understand why my weight isn't dropping...I'm probably averaging around 1,500 calories a day. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I'm just over 5'6 and I'm 36 years old and I'd like to lose 2 stone. To my knowledge I'm not diabetic. My diet is low in fat though I must admit my diet does include carbs.

be patient. you are doing good, because slow weight loss means its not gona come back. the best is to lose 1-2lbs a week.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

Just up your exercise and little and make sure you walk 10'000 steps a day and the weight will come off, but you only want to lose 1-2 pounds a week for safe weight lose which will stay off, lose to much to quick and your body then slows down the metabolic rate so you put weight back on.
Good luck and speak to your doctor about weight lose he can give you lots of information, and try dieting with a friend you are twice as likely to stick with it when you have moral support.

Patience is important-
Also check if you are not having to much sugar in your food and drinks, Sugar if not burn fast, becomes fat.
Another reason could be that you are gaining muscle and muscle is heavier than fat, so do not only rely on weight. How are your inches doing?
Upgrade your exercise if you think that is necessary, just 10 % every week for 3 weeks is a huge amount, so be careful with the upgrading.
Luck

When i tried losing weight i started with weight watchers and found them really helpful, but then i stopped going and put some back on. Now i accept myself for the way i am.
Also i was told the older you are the harder it is to lose the weight and keep it off. Good luck

It may be you have a slow metabolism or whatever. When i eat i put the weight on straight away. Believe it or not you can put on weight by not eating enough. Eat fruit inbetween meals? and the meals you have check the fat content. 90g day max. You could always join a slimming club like Weight Watchers or Slimming World (which i joined). Good luck

Try cutting down on your carbs and the salt in your diet. It could be that you are retaining water. Also, if you don't get a bit of healthy fat your body will not loose the weight. Try things like salmon, makerill, avocado and nuts as they contain healthy fat that you need to break down stored fat. Another rule of thumb is don't have carbs after 6pm in the evening as your body will not use the energy in them.
Also, what kind of excersise are you doing? The best thing is to combine cardio with weight training. Try to do weight training standing up that uses as many muscles as possible like squats, jumps, lounges, army press etc.

We are what we eat and even more so what we don't do. The body is bound by the same laws of physics as the rest of the universe, matter can neither be created or destroyed!
Less in more out. Increase your exercise levels and certainly check that you are not forgetting some of the calories you are eating, we are all guilty of that sometimes!

When you lose weight, it has to be a life time change. If not it will come on and off.
