Yes you can! A few years ago I participated in a bat count. One of the scientist there had a special computer set up that not only recorded the bat calls, it could identify different species of bats based on the frequency of it's call. Very interesting!

they use these high freq voices to navigate in the dark they liven in dark places and have horrible eyesight). the voice echos back from objects, so the bat can avoid bumping into things.
