Actually, I would recommend not driving that route during rush hour. Instead consider using the MTA Metrorail system. They have the Blue line which runs from Long Beach into Los Angeles where an easy transfer to the Red Line to Hollywood can be made at the 7th Street Metro Center station. Best of all the fare for an all day pass is only $3.00! The service is really much faster than driving.

It depends on what part of Long Beach you are starting from. The real bottle neck in your trip is when you start going north on the 101 through Los Angeles. The 110 is a little smoother than the 710.

The 110 is probably a little better, but it will slow to a crawl if not COMPLTELY STOP once you reach the 10/Santa Monica Freeway.

It really makes little difference because once you reach the 10 on EITHER Freeway, you have to go through downtown, and that is where the real mess is.

The best option, as someone else stated is not to drive during that time at all if you can help it. If you have no choice, allow at LEAST an hour and a half. I know that wasn't your question, but I have been burned by this one too many times.

Well I would guess I-110 but this is the wrong question. Neither goes to Hollywood, but to the downtown area and as both Peedlepup and clueless say the problem starts on the 101 AFTER you get in the downtown area. Come on guys let's find a side street to shoot right up to Hollywood----LOL. ---Unfortunately I don't think it exists, but you guys know all the tricks...
