I take percocet for back pain, but I hate having small pupils that make me look like I'm a strung out junkie! Is there any way to prevent this?

YEAH TAKE A VASODIALATOR LIKE NITROGLYCERIN, IT MIGHT KILL U BUT UR PUPILS WILL BE BIG. J/K JUST STOP TAKING THE PAIN KILLERS AND TRY TO FIND OUT WAYS TO COPE WITH THE PAIN, IF YOU CAN HANDLE THE PAIN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION UR IN, YOUR PAIN RECEPTORS WILL STOP FIRING AS MUCH BECAUSE UR BODY WILL ADJUST.

Sounds like you are currently taking an opioid medicine.
Unless you want to take a drug that dilates your pupils (which is not advisable as this can be harmful and they should only used by optomotrists and opthalmologists and other qualified doctors) there is not much you can do about it.
Perhaps you could talk to your doctor about adding an anti-inflammatory medicine or paracetamol or a different type of pain killer to help with the management of your pain.

No, there's no sensible way to prevent your pupils from closing. I'd question that people really pay that much attention to each others pupils unless someone is acting strangely. I think you're being overly self conscious. Relax :-)

Well, actually considering not all junkie's will have small pupils, nobody should think that at all. Mater of fact, when I get all tripped out on Acid or X my pupils do the exact opposite of small. They are competely dialated.

I think the real problem here, or question you need to ask, is: "Why should having your pupils small be such a issue?"

No there is no way that you can get rid of this side effect unless you get off the medication. I decided to finally stop taking medications like that for my chronic pain, and have found other devices like my Spinal Cord Stimulator to help my pain. The side effects weren't worth it so basically I got off the medication and found another way to deal with the pain or just deal with the small pupils!

All opiate pain killers do this and there is nothing you can do about it if you are going to take them. I've been dealing with this for 30 years. When you get stopped by the police they sometimes question this and it is getting more common as they train them now to recognize someone on drugs. They are stopping more and more who are obviously impaired but yet pass the alcohol tests so are spending more money on recognizing those impaired by drugs.

lol. you could buy the type of lotion or eye droppers or something which opticians use to dilate pupils. not sure what it's called though.
