Stir it up make things interesting. So many different reason. I have one and will probably get one more. I am a little unique about getting mine. I make a decision on what I want, get a temporary one and than wait a few years and make sure it still holds the same passion in my life. At that point even if in the future I change my mind about the meaning of it. I will have a reference point of a time period in my life. You only live once so please do live.

(a million) Reason for purchasing tattoo/frame artwork: Memorial/Reminder/Commemorating an occasion or man or woman Acknowledging a self-discovery (two) “Compared not to having a tattoo, having a tattoo makes me think...” Attractive Inner force/Self-esteem Self-possession/Individual autonomy (three) Do you ever hide your tattoos? Why? No. Not without difficulty noticeable (four) Are there instances wherein you've got been discriminated towards given that of noticeable tattoos? No. See Above. (five) Have you ever regretted getting a tattoo? Why? No. It's a choice that I made in complete trust. One day while I'm ancient it's going to seem gross however so will I. At that factor I'm no longer going to even remotely care.

Almost everyone you ask will have a different reason. Some people just get what they think looks good; others have deep meanings behind their pieces.

I just got my first tattoo about a week ago. Though I have nothing against aesthetic tattoos on principle, I also know my tastes might change enough that choosing something just because I think it looks good now might not be the best idea. I've been interested in tattoos for pretty much my whole life, but it took me until now [at age 21] to settle on something I was sure I would want forever. Last summer I finally came up with something that both looks good [at least in my perception] and is important to me, but I waited awhile to make sure it was really what I wanted just in case.

I got a couple lines of music on my left side. Music has always been a very important aspect of my life. I played violin for years, including playing as part of a prestigious youth orchestra and sometimes soloing with them, as well as playing competitions; it was the love of my life for a long time. I stopped playing when my life fell apart due to a variety of emotional problems, but recently I've been getting back into music with singing and playing my acoustic guitar [it's much lower pressure, which is certainly welcome]. Even when I'm not the one making music, the right song at the right time can be the most amazingly cathartic experience. I chose the specific song because it's been very representational of my life for the past seven or eight years and a lot of the problems I've been having; even if I don't always love the song the way I do now, that won't change the fact that what it stands for was and is an important and formative part of my life. Some people try to bury the difficult parts of their pasts, and while I don't wallow in it I do understand that it has a huge impact on who I'm becoming.

I've also been battling an eating disorder for about eight years now. I have a lot of issues with my body, and there will probably always be something or other about it that will frustrate me immensely even when I look fine. A lot of the root of eating disorders is a matter of control; the fact that my tattoo is something about my body I chose for myself is a great feeling. Adoring a part of myself as much as I love my tattoo is definitely helpful for my mental state and the acceptance of my body too. Even though there will always be things that bother me about my body, there will also always be something I like.

I hope this is helpful for you.

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by tattoos and have wanted one. My first tattoo was a spur of the moment thing and I regretted not thinking more about the design. I ended up getting it covered up about 13 years later. Every tattoo I have received since my first has been custom and they each have a special meaning to me. They symbolize a moment in my life that I wish to remember and how I feel about myself and my outlook on life.

Self Expression or as a Memorial Tattoo. I am an artist, so I mainly get tattoos to self express and my love of art and other artists.

It's not for everyone and I wouldn't have them all over my body. It all depends on the person...

I got them because my Father, Grandfather and Uncles had tattoos. I always thought they look cool. I couldn't wait till i was old enough to get them. I started getting tattoos 25 years ago and I am still getting them.
