Interesting how the rules about eating shellfish (and wearing clothes of mixed fabrics) are dismissed as no longer relevant yet Leviticus is often quoted when homosexuality is dicussed by these same religionists.

Suddenly when it suits them, every word in the Bible (including the OT) is the absolute truth to be followed to the letter.

If the Bible is 100% true about Creation and about homosexual behaviour then it has to be 100% true about eating shellfish, wearing different fabrics and all that other stuff

That's true, the Old Testament does say that. However, the NEW Testament, which is what Christians base their faith on, says this:

Mark 7:18-20

"Are you so dull?" he [Jesus] asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")

He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' "

And this:

Acts 10:9-16

About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

Not making excuses, these are the FACTS. I don't quote verses at random, thanks.

Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an END to the LAW WITH ALL ITS COMMANDS AND RULES. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.

Colossians 2:14 He wiped out the written Law with its rules. The Law was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross.

Galatians 2:16 ...No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

Galatians 2:21 ...What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!

Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace... The ONLY verse that talks about falling from grace, and they did it by trying to follow the law!

Jesus said he didn’t come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17) The effect was the same. Once fulfilled it was no longer in effect. The very next verse, Matthew 5:18, looks forward to the time when the law would be set aside. "...Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law UNTIL EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED." IF the law were intended to be permanent, the "UNTIL..." clause would be meaningless.

On the cross, Jesus' last recorded saying, "It is finished," is an important milestone. Because of Jesus life, Satan had been defeated. The law was finished and would no longer stand between God and mankind.

The 10 commandments along with the rest of the law ("commands and rules" from Ephesians 2:15) were "set aside" when they were fulfilled or completed at Jesus' resurrection. We are no longer bound by that law.

Did you ever hear of the 'New Testament'? It testifies, that's why it's called a Testament. And if there is no testator, then there isn't really a testament, is there? Typically a testator, well, here, I'll let a secular dictionary tell you:
–noun Law. 1. a person who makes a will.
2. a person who has died leaving a valid will.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/testator

Now you might be one of those people who would rather die than admit he didn't know something. I understand that, it's pride and we all carry that bag around on one subject or another. Just remember to leave a will. That way, anyone who wants to testify that you wanted a certain thing a certain way won't be able to argue it if you say it precisely in your will.

That's what Jesus did, He's the testator. He gave to path to righteousness, not for those who think that they are righteous, but for those who think that they are sick, and incapable of living up to the Old Testament. Get it?

Let me know if anything clicked with you. I could find you chapter and verse, but that wouldn't change the mind of a person like you, would it?

food rules in religion always started for a logical reason.

pork back in the day, the same as now, carried parasites that could cause illness or death if not cooked properly. they didnt have the benefit of modern science to explain to them what a microscopic parasite was, so the safest thing to do was avoid it all together.
shellfish is the same. they tend to have high concentrations of bacterias and anything else that is in the water due to how they feed, and what they eat. if you dont know the reason behind it, or how to prevent it, and all you see is your buddies dropping dead after snacking on some contaminated raw shellfish, you would decide pretty quickly that its "evil"

however, we have progressed and know better. the fact that a rule, system, whatever, has been around a very long time is not a good enough excuse to perpetuate that behavior.
in other words, we have refrigeration and an understanding of how to safely cook food. simple as that.

You would be a lot better at mocking us if you read through the Bible.

Eating shrimp is perfectly fine.

Act 11:4 But Peter rehearsed [the matter] from the beginning, and expounded [it] by order unto them, saying,
Act 11:5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
Act 11:6 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Act 11:7 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
Act 11:8 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
Act 11:9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, [that] call not thou common.

Not just shrimp
mud & sand crabs too
but no joke they are the scavangers of the sea
they eat all the dead things & yes thats gross when you think of it
that may make non believers think a lot also because how would they have known that sort of information way back then when that was written?
so you may be helping some to believe
but I don't listen to that advise because I do love prawns & crabs & eat them when I can

We're not gonna go to hell for eating shrimp! We shouldn't have done it, it's not good for us. A lot of times shrimp is cheaper than beef where I live, (in the middle of cattle country!) This world is messed up, if we have to eat some things that aren't good for us God understands. But I do try to avoid it as much as possible.

They would argue that these dietary restrictions were lifted, but that the abhorrence of homosexuality was not. And of course there are those who do follow these dietary restrictions. What would you tell them?

Of course, being an atheist it's all a moot point to me.

Notice the argument in Mark involves coming to the defense of those who don't wash their hands? Eeeugh.

Do you know that it is wrong to "Cast the First Stone"?
Reread the OT and tell me exactly who the laws were for, then come back and reask

Do you eat meat at all?..because if you do, then do you in fact cook it until all the blood is gone or trim all the fat off, that is an abomination too according to the OT. But you see, the laws where for the Chosen People.
