Their favourite is whatever is catch of the day. Wild cats are opportunistic and will eat whatever the can get. If all they can catch is a bird that's what they eat, if it's a mouse, that's prime dinner tonight.
I have fussy cats but if all I give them is the meat and biscuits I want to eat, they get to a stage where, that's all they will eat and if I change it, i'm given a severe reprimand. We noticed this when we ran out of their usual dry food a little while ago, I had some other biscuits that were for the foster cats so I fed them those, they didn't want to eat them at first and complained loudly and would follow me around the house meowing and giving me dirty looks. We then got to the produce store and got their usual, when I put these in the bowl, they didn't want to eat those!!! Cats are fickle LOL

Most commercial pet products are based on the "mouse diet" this is why they include meat byproducts not just meat alone.
Many cats do like milk and dairy products, but they cannot digest the lactose in them so these should probably be avoided. (I do admit to giving my cat Lactaid, though.)
Different cats tend to like different things, but not all of them should be part of their regular diet. See the links below for more information on cat nutrition. Rarely, my cat has eaten pieces of lunchmeat, beef jerky, asparagus, a piece of cooked green bean, and occasionally will eat rice or cheese when he gets a chance.
I know my cat really likes something if he picks it up and runs off with it. He used to eat mice and occasionally birds (usually sparrows) when I lived in an area where I felt safe letting him outside. Meat products are generally his favorite though, and especially store bought cat treats. He prefers chicken, liver and beef to seafood products, but enjoys the water from water canned tuna, and will eat pieces of skin off fresh grilled salmon. My mom reports she had a cat when she was a child that actually liked cantelope fruit. I feed him mainly canned food. He seems to prefer the ground type: when I feed him chunks with gravy he will lick the gravy off and leave the chunks.

cats enjoy a variety of food but they have the natural urge to hunt and kill so yes they will kill a bird or a mouse actually mine eat things like cheese beans and alot of veggies dont feed them onions they are toxic to cats a healthy diet of cat food and most importantly water not milk because it gives some cats the runs is the best thing for cats but what is not good is to declaw your pet because in the process of declawing they break some of the bones in the cats paws and rip out the nails

My cats will eat just about anything, whether it's good for them or not. Sorta like humans.
A couple of things they shouldn't have -- dairy (they can't digest it and get diarrhea), and chocolate (chemicals in the chocolate are poisonous to cats).
Mine like to taste house plants so I have to look at the list of what might be poisonous and avoid them.
I have one that likes to lick glue so I have to make sure nothing with glue on it is left around.
After all, we can only guess what the cat's favorite food is because they can't really tell us. They trust us to give them food that is good for them, so I offer nutritionally complete dry food. The only cat having a specific preference is Garfield in the funny papers -- lasagna.

Apparently Cardinals are big on the hit list. I found one torn to pieces in my backyard last night. I'm sad for the bird, but at least the stray cat got a good meal!

You sound like you have been watching too many cartoons.
Cats really enjoy dairy, and fish. Milk and cream are really bad for adult cats, and even kittens should only drink their mother's milk. But they do love it. And feeding cats anything you eat leads to behav problems like getting on the table to lick out of plates, as well as digging in the garbage. Cats are no classier than dogs in this regard.
Cats' best food, is...cat food.

It really depends on the cat.
For instance, I have 2 cats and while they both like tuna the older one is more fussy about what he steals whereas the little one will eat anything that she can get her paws on with no exception!!!!!

Well, my cat's favorite food is actually olives. He doesn't actually eat them but likes to sniff and lick them and then basically go all rabidly in love with them.
