In Buddhism there is no soul! The idea of reincarnation is not the literally being reborn into something else, but the notion that with everything we do we leave traces. We influence something else. Our ashes or remains feed the bugs, the plants and trees. Thus we are becomming something else. We manifest in something else, as we are self fed by plants and animals that have grown on someone's or something elses remains.

But there is reincarnation. The purpose of the soul is to learn things on Earth (mainly love) and reach higher levels and eventually become a perfected soul who no longer needs to return to Earth for lessons.

The soul was appointed to walk through the flesh once and then be judged! No reincarnation back into the flesh but we are going to get a new spiritual body, unless you end up in hell, then you get nothing.

I am an atheist.
But, in response to your query, the first law in thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed.
If you consider that the human body is basically a electric machine, then, maybe that is some sort of version of "soul."

Our souls are our true forms. Our bodies are nothing but are shell or armour to keep us from going to the spirit world for a long time.

The soul is a fabrication. It does not exist. It is a lie told to the gullible to explain how the person that has died INVISIBLY travels to the equally as fictictious heaven - or otherwise.
Invisibility is a very convenient ploy when teaching religion to idiots or small children.

The soul is your very essence of being, created by God. And when you die, it's final destination will be determined by whether you accepted Christ, or did not.
There is no such thing as reincarnation.

When the reincarnation ends the person gets enlightenment, so he/she either becomes a Muslim or gets birth in a Muslim family for last life before to enter into the eternal life of hereafter, either in Paradise or in Hell, as per his/her good/bad deeds acted in last worldly life.
Reincarnation system helps the man to get evolved from dust/clay by various processes of development and growth.
As it is mentioned in holy Qura'n Allah almighty has created the man from dust/clay.
