So are the handgun frames injection moulded ? what type of polymers do the major gunmakers use

If you're talking about toy guns, they are injected molded plastic.

If you're talking about Glocks, Springfields, and other manufacturers... the handgun frames are made of polymer, which is essentially stronger than steel, and lighter. It's not the kind of "plastic" most people would associate with.

Polymer. Of course, that's only the frame and magazines. Everything is steel. Check the Glock web-site for more info. n illustrations.

Polymer is durable and light weight and cheaper to process the metal.
It is an interesting material and an interesting process used to manufacture.
