What are you using it for just basic office stuff, or are you going to be doing development, or any graphics intense stuff, or are you a die hard gamer, or will you be editing video?

Anyways, not sure what you're looking for it to be doing, but
I'd say Sony and Mac's are great ;-)

But it's not really about the "Brand" really, it's about the specs

What chip is inside of it, like how fast it runs for your needs and try to get one that runs cool and not hot so your little laptop don't overheat
look up what amount of RAM and the speed you'd like it to run @
How much space you'll need so you know how many Gigs you want in your Hard Drive
The ports like if your working with video Firewire is better then any USB so it'll be good to get that
Other then that the accessories is up to you ...
like if you want DVD / CD RW drives or not
or how much of a refresh rate you want your screen to have
and all that other good stuff ;-)

contact me if you know what you want to use your laptop for and I can suggest more specific stuff you should be lookin @ k

::: Peace :::

What do you plan on using the laptop for?

If you just using it for business or school, go with a dell or hp.

If your gaming, go for the Aleinware.
