I am wondering what breed he is? Herding pups will always do this. For them, the answer is to give them a job, so that they aren't herding you..giving the pup something to carry, such as a small ball or nylabone, will usually stop this..

If it isn't a herding breed, just pull the dog off, telling him NO BITE..and stand until he settles down, then repeat..Only walk when he has quit, and stop when he begins to nip. Be consistent with the command, and he should soon catch on..We don't go anywhere if you don't behave properly...

All puppies of all breeds do this and you have to teach them it's wrong. Pushing him away will NOT work - quite the opposite - because it makes the whole behaviour into a game for him. You do it by getting the pup's attention, then barking "No!" or "Uh-uh!" or whatever reprimand you normally use in a stern tone of voice. I really mean barking - make it sound like a dog's bark. Then when your pup stops biting, give him a treat. This has to be reinforced for a while with treats and praise, but keep on doing this and your pup will definitely stop very soon!

I'd reccomend not using the citronella idea - there could be chemicals & other stuff in it that may makethe dog ill - as odd as this sounds - what doesthe dog do if you take it for a walk with out wearing shoes ?? Try it see what happens ..
Or
Take a newly bought un filled with chemicals spray bottle - dollar stores have them , if the puppy goes for the shoes spray it - if it likes water this concept won't work ... in that case put pennies/ change in a can tape the lid shut - if the pup goes for the feet - shake the can & make a heck of alot of noise with the can immediatlly when it starts - everyti,e it goes forthe feet shake the can --- continue till the dog stops - hes most likely just playing & excited to go out ...my dog use to latch onto the uppet heel areaof my shoe - afterhaving chat with him & theword no he understood shoes when your wearing them weren't to be messed wiith
good luck

It's prey drive. Same reason why a cat goes after a moving string.

You have to show him who's boss, and if that means doing the belly roll (if small-medium sized), so be it. << roll the puppy onto it's back with your hand over its belly, stare into its eyes and say "NO." with a firm voice.>>

Try taking his attention to something else yo. Like a treat in your pocket

its something for him to play with.. he's just entertaining himself. just reprimand him and give him a tap on the nose when he does it.. dont hit him hard!! just hard enough to let him know he must stop. in some cases dogs grab hold of the leash when they go for walks its basically the same thing.

oh and if you going to reprimand the pup make sure you using the right tone of voice or you will get no where.. a angry yet stern voice gets the attention while one filled with laughter will just egg the pup on

She's wanting to play. When shes grabbing you make her look at you and say no! firmly and say lets go for a walk and begin to walk. You may have to keep repeating this but she will catch on that walk time is not play time. After your walk then play with her with her favorite toy.

try getting old shoes and putting citronella oil( the stuff you put in those mosquito flares) on them
dogs hate the taste of it and it will soon learn not to bite them
