Currently, I feel so troubled and I think my life is heading nowhere.
I flunged my major exams badly..got no school to go to...my parents see me as crap and my dad is not talking to me. My anger is always getting out of hand and I have scolded my parents vulgurities(in my heart). I have felt guilty afterwards and this has made me feel like a bad person.

I pretty much know what I want to do in life..but no one is willing to offer me the direction.

I am a Hindu..but I don't seem to find the answers in my own religion. I have been totally fascinated and drawn towards Christianity. I have read the bible in the net and once, a church goer left a bible in my dad's taxi and I found it. I felt as though I really need to get to the church. Another time, a guy out of nowhere gave me a pamphlet asking me to join the church.

Well it could be the coincidence....

But I somehow feel conversion is not right because if i were born into a specific religion, there is a purpose to it. Some more Hinduism could have the answers I want, may be I should just look into it deeper.

Or is it because I don't really pray or visit the temples anymore?

I don't need your sympathy...I just want answers.

Your experience is no exception.
There are many out in the world who feel directionless.
The situations, circumstances, areas of life may be different but the crux of the issue remains the same.
There is no magic portion, mantra or name that can make things work out automatically for you.
I can understand that you are at your wits end.
The same situation that Arjuna faced at the battle field.
The Lord reminded him that this world is a Karma Bhoomi.
Nothing is achieved without work (action).
Your prime enemy is your mind. Your own self.
Your limbs refuse to move, your senses let you down if not at all times but at cruitial moments, your heart beats fast the mind only thinks of the easiest way out or panic sets in and you flee.
You are always dejected, have a feeling of lethargy born out of deep set tiredness. Most of the time nothing interest you. You'd want to be left alone. Motivation or initative, if any, is only a spark which dies out quickly. Even the smallest hurdle seems huge and you lose courage. There is always a unknown fear lurking within. The backlog of work keeps piling. In order to escape the real world you slip into dreams for a short while but only to crash out of it soon.
Wake up Arjuna !! Realise
You have to strive to defeat your strongest enemy and that is your own self if you have to lead a life of a normal human being.
Every human being has to fight his own 'Mahabharat'.
If you really know what you want to do in life then you should also know or strive to find out the direction yourself.
Its foolish to say 'I Know' but 'I Don't'. Makes no sense.
Either you know or you don't can not be both.
Make an effort. Break the barriers you have put around yourself. Change your habits. Try to know others. Be open not secretive.
Trust others specially your near and dear. Share your fears, inhibitions, feelings, likes etc., etc., with them. Understand what they have to say. Cultivate patience, tolerance and respect towards them. They are not your enemies even if they are unhappy of what has happened till now. Seek their help, advise and blessings. Soon they will see a ray of hope in you and will spare no efforts in helping you.
Cut out the feeling of guilt and accept your wrongs openly. You will be forgiven !!
And that will enable you to find the purpose and direction in life. A meaning and joy in living.
Its not that easy as it sounds. Its a battle that you have to wage against your own self. May take a long time. May ask for innumerable sacrifices. There may be many small wars on various fronts. The enemy may not be visible. But you have to be determined to win the 'Kingdom' as the Pandavas did.
Keep the Mahabharata in mind. It is nothing but a graphic portrayal of the battle of life. All the characters and situations are a reality in your own life time and you are 'Arjuna' . Remember the words of the Lord 'I am always there by your side as your charioteer' - but you have to fight your war.
If you don't make the move no god of any religion can help you.

darling, the source of ur feeling bad is NOT ur religion
infact, not going to temples robs u of the inner peace
religion is not something which we obey; it is something which we seek to let out and vent our griefs
changing the religion will be another big mistake u will make...anyhow thats totally dependant on u

now let me tell uo ne thing:
read it----its a poem

when things go wrong
as they somtimes will;
when the road u r trudging seems all uphill;
when the funds are low and the debts are high
and u want to smile, but u have to sigh,
when care is pressing u down a bit--
rest if u must, but dont u quit!

life is queer with its twists and turns,
as everyone of us sometimes learns,
and many a failure turns about
when he might have won had he stuck it out
dont give up though the pace seems slow--
u may succeed with another blow

success is failure turned inside out--
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
and u never can tell how close u r,
it may be near when it seems so far;
so stick to the fight when u r hardest hit
its when things seem worst that u musnt quit!

go n start studying from now on......go to ur room and plan for the first 15 minutes
we all can say that we have been failures....but u gotta do something for being a success

for once try studying,girl
i can tell u how MUCH i like my books
they are my greatest friends.....they never leave me ANY time....they are my sweetest friends.....when i am sad..i just start studying n it all evaporates!....there is so much in science and things that u simply wont be able to worry about other things once u have got the knack of it

realise where u faltered...go to ur room...pick up an interesting book even if u dont feel like reading it.....keep on reading it for half an hour.....read ur newspaper, dont bother about things like religion ......i tell u: ur problem is not studying instead of playing on the net.....go n study n that would be the end of it

maybe my words seem harsh....but they are true n useful

My take (as always, as an agnostic):

If Christianity is what you are drawn to, and what speaks to you, then you should research it and see if it is indeed what calls to you. You owe it to yourself as a curious, informed person to do that. There's no sense in denying yourself whatever you feel is right based solely on the weight of tradition.

There are probably numerous books discussing differences and similarities between Hinduism and Christianity (though I don't have references on them as readily as those between Buddhism and Christianity, I bet an Amazon.com search could reveal them.) Keep in mind that Christianity is varied, and that closed, strict fundamentalism is not the only branch out there. If there are ministers of any faith out there with whom you feel comfortable, try chatting with them, or with a nonreligious counselor as well.

As far as the exams themselves, that's a shame, but have a contingency plan. Find a job or a social service organization; find something you enjoy doing; contribute to society. If your parents are good people, they will see the benefit that you will create despite your exam problems. Continue to be a curious, questioning person, and don't let these exams rule your life. I flunked tenth grade intentionally and today am a law student after doing very well in college; perhaps such possibilities are open to you as well.

Treating your parents well will make you feel better and is important in any philosophy or religion. Maybe try talking to your mom, if your dad won't. Have a plan, and a clear goal of what you want to do with your life, and discuss with them how that can work.

Good luck!

Man utd!
After carefully going through your narration, i understand that you expect a favorable result without putting your effort. Only God can listen the talks of your heart...whether good or bad...no one near to you can even hear a beat of your heart or your pulse.

For your weak mind don't blame the religion!

A simple solution you may try and if you do it faithfully, you will be that great winner "DO WHAT DO YOU SAY & SAY WHAT DO YOU DO"

There is no peace on earth. But the good news is that God will give you his spirit and change your heat to peace. But how do I get this spirit you ask, it is found in one name only , the name of Jesus, now as a Hindu I don't know how you feel about this but if you want power from on high from the God of heaven that created you and me, you must call on the name of his son Jesus and he will give you his spirit right NOW, right there. This is a site I built that gives the secret. read it and call his name and you will never be the same!!!Hurry you were born for this! Read John to the end of the book again!

Wow, I'm so exited now! It is the power of the Holy Spirit!!!! Awesome!!! I have been an atheist for a long time and I felt exactly like you, but through the awesome power of God's grace I was saved by Jesus! Praise God for that! It change my life for good and I am now involved with Christian outreach groups. Accept Jesus and join the church. The bible in your dad's taxi was not an coincidence and man who gave you the pamphlet was there for a purpose, to lead you to our amazing and loving God.

My prayer: God, I ask you know to give peace to him and accept what You did for us through Jesus. May he prosper and be a witness for You in his community. Amen
