Exodus 2:10 .... She named him Moses, 'Because' she said, ' I drew him out of the water'

Moses sounds like a Hebrew word meaning "drawing out" and an Egyptian word meaning " born"

MOSES

Gender: Masculine

Usage: English, Biblical

Pronounced: MOZ-es [key]
From the Hebrew name מֹשֶׁה (Mosheh) which is most likely derived from Egyptian mes meaning "son", but could also possibly mean "deliver" in Hebrew. The meaning suggested in the Old Testament of "drew out" from Hebrew משה (mashah) is probably an invented etymology. The biblical Moses was drawn out of the Nile by the pharaoh's daughter. He led the Jews out of captivity in Egypt and received the Ten Commandments from God.

Moses means "drawn out" referring to him being saved from the water, from the Nile.

I have read that the actual name was an coptic (ancient egyptian) name. Mu-shay, which means, "I saved him from water" This name was given by pharoah.

indeed there is the option of the "mu-shay",but the other egiptologists say it comes from "mosis" which means child.
