So I want to get a tattoo of a bluebird flying holding a chain with a cross and a ring on it in it's beak (the cross and ring belonged to my grandparents). I want it on my lower back but the thing is I already have a tattoo of a lily on the right side of my lower back so I don't know where to put the bird for it not to look awkward...

please no rude comments about "tramp stamps", I appreciate it

I would love any suggestions you have, thanks so much!

I think that the bluebird would look really pretty next to the lily. As long as it's kind of to scale.
And it should look okay off-center.
But if you don't want it beside the lily, I say put it on a shoulder blade. It will look great there too.

My instinct says to go diagonally up and across from the lily, but without being able to see it it's difficult to be particularly helpful.

I'd suggest you get someone to take photos of your back as it is, and then literally draw on the pictures until you hit on the location and size that work best with your existing tattoo. You don't need to do technically brilliant drawings, just something to represent the general idea... I think if you try this, you'll eventually find the location that looks 'right', even if you can't put into words exactly why.

It may also be a good idea to take advice from your tattoo artist - after all, they know all about design, so they should be able to make some helpful suggestions.

Hope this helps!

What about your hip? On the front, just below where the top of your jeans would sit. Wouldn't clash with your lily then. I think it's better to spread tattoos out, I don't like how it looks when there are several different ones too close together.

That sounds awesome. Definetly put it on your shoulder blade. Maybe the opposite side that the lily is on. That is going to be a beautiful tattoo.

i think the back is a good place and you should have you current lily needs to be incorporated... you can make it an extension of the new one! lol tramp stamps never even heard that before is that what they call them? anyway i have many tattoos and they are all ongoing projects i eventually take another one and mix it up like an ongoing peice of art.. good luck i hope my suggestion helps!

Hey, what a nice idea... You could try and incorporate the bluebird with your lilly...??
Otherwise I think it could look nice on your shoulder...
