According to my BabyCenter manual the average weight gain from the beginning of pregnancy to 13 weeks is 2-5 pounds. From 14 weeks to 27 weeks is 12-15 additional pounds and the bulk of the weight is gained from 28 - 40 weeks.
If she is like most women she has heard the fetal heart at each of her visits so far and the doppler can usually pick up both heart beats.
She has gained a lot of weight but that is not necessarily unhealthy. Just make sure she isn't loading up on empty calories.
She is also at an increased risk of stretch marks

I hadn't gained any by then, but started to right after. Some people gain over 100 lbs during their pregnancy. Are you just being mean and judgmental? Or is this something she is concerned about? If she is under the care of a doctor or a midwife then it is between her and that professional, not someone who just likes to stick her nose in other people's business.

It depends on a lot of things. Do you eat a lot? Does your family have a history of weight gain during pregnancies. I only gained a couple of pounds when I was 4 months pregnant. But there are a lot of things you have to go by to see how much you'll gain. But the average wait gain. I would say is maybe 4-7lbs

In first trimester weight gain is about four to six pounds if she started at a healthy weight. 1 pound a week for second and third trimester is average. 25 to 35 pounds over nine months is the recommended weight gain and for twins for nine months its 35 40pounds

women aren't usually supposed to gain over 40 pounds. They say that 30 pounds up are the weight that stays with you. I was 100 pounds when I found out I was pregnant and I'm 24weeks pregnant and I've gained 17 pounds.

but then again I'm only having one child.

Best of luck to your friend.
