My husband has a turkish van, beautiful cat, that he rescued as a small kitten. I've done a little reading, never hearing of the breed before. The one thing this cat loves to do is bat his water out of his water bowl, driving me nuts, or he likes to play in the commode, getting water everywhere. Does anyone have anymore details about this particular breed?

Playing with water isn't breed specific. Many cats love to bat at water. My tabby has been known to jump and swim in the bathtub, while my calico plays in the sink. It's just a natural behavior in some cats that most people don't expect.

There may be individual cats that enjoy water, but as a breed, Turkish Vans ARE known for liking it. They may even enjoy full-fledged swimming!

They are also beautiful cats.

My Himalayan loves to play with the water, I have learned to always wipe down the toilet seat before sitting on it, as he has likely soaked it down during his play, ugh.

We had two Turkish Vans at a pet supply store I worked at as a teenager. They were beautiful cats. I don't recall either of them being particularly fond of water though.

Also known as the swimming cat, very large breed. as you said, loves water. predominantly white with colour on head and tail, and medium length coat. Reputed to be one of the oldest breeds around. They are very strong, have gr8 personalities and unusually intelligent.
Originates in Turkey. Weight 3 to 8.5kgs. Very active temperament.
