I love teaching! If I had been in any other career, the decision to be a mom would have been more difficult.
*Both of my girls are with me at the same school and we get the same holidays. (I took some time off from teaching and was miserable that I didn't have enough vacation time accrued to spend more time with them. Plus, I had to pay for expensive "day camps" when I couldn't stay home with them and they needed childcare.)
*When they get sick in the middle of the school day, the nurse is awesome. If it's just a minor thing like fever, no vomiting, she lets them sleep undisturbed and I can finish off the day without a sub. As teachers, we also get a stipend for Sick Care (it's a daycare run out of the hospital for kids with minor illnesses or injuries.)
*I get to keep an eye on them... if I have a question or their teacher has a concern, it is very easy to communicate in a timely manner.
My daughters love this arrangement but how long will that last?? I'm sure the closer they get to their teens, they will not like it as much! My planned revenge, if ever needed, is to become their principal. LOL!

I work in a school kitchen to coordinate my time with my daughter's. I'm able to be home when she gets out of school and have never had to use daycare. Working in a school system I get some benefits and slightly higher hourly pay than most other part-time jobs. It's perfect for my family, I can contribute financially and still have the time and energy to take care of business at home.

I work in a daycare and love it. I take my daughter to work with me. The best of both worlds.
