because electromagnetic waves is travling is prepandicular direction to the direction of wave.

They don't vibrate along the line of travel, like a spring that is pulsed from one end, so they are not longitudinal waves. Ok so nothing actually moves sideways, but the general idea is that the action happens in a plane not including the axis of travel.

Because they vibrate transversely, as opposed to longitudinally. Just like Sony above said.
